Privacy Policy

Overview

Chef’s Notes is a recipe manager designed to keep your data private and under your control. Your recipes are stored locally on your device and can be synced through your own iCloud account using Apple CloudKit. We do not have access to your recipe data.

We collect only minimal, anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used and to improve its reliability and features. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build user profiles.

Data You Create in the App

Chef’s Notes stores the recipes and other content you create directly on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, this data is synced through Apple CloudKit and stored in your personal iCloud account.

The developer does not have access to your recipes or other content stored in iCloud. Apple manages iCloud authentication, storage, and security.

Analytics

Chef’s Notes collects limited, anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used and to help improve stability and features. This data may include an anonymous app-scoped identifier, basic device information, and events such as feature usage.

This analytics data is not used to identify you personally and is not used for advertising or profiling.

Text Processing Features

Chef’s Notes includes optional features that process text you provide, such as formatting or structuring recipe content. When you use these features, the text you submit is sent to a third-party service solely for the purpose of performing the requested processing.

The developer does not store this text on its own servers and does not use it for advertising, profiling, or analytics. Processing occurs only when you explicitly use the feature.

Third-Party Services

Chef’s Notes may use third-party services to provide certain features:

  • Apple iCloud (CloudKit): Used to sync your recipes and app data across your devices.
  • Analytics processing service: Anonymous usage data is collected by an analytics processing service to help improve the app.
  • Third-party text processing service: Used to process text when you use optional features.

These services operate under their own privacy policies, and the developer does not control their practices.

Your Choices and Control

  • iCloud Sync: You can enable or disable iCloud sync at any time through your device settings.
  • Analytics: Anonymous usage data is collected automatically. Since it is non-identifying, it cannot be turned off in this version of the app.
  • Text Processing Features: You control when to use text processing features; no text is sent without your explicit action.

You are in control of all content you create in the app, and you can delete it at any time from your device or iCloud.

Children’s Privacy

Chef’s Notes is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make changes, the updated policy will be posted within the app or on our website, and the “Last Updated” date will be revised.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
